I am Emily Simons an illustrator from The Netherlands.

I make paintings with a dark theme but very colorful. 

In addition to painting, drawing and designing artwork.

I also create (Puzzle) Art Boxes in various shapes from canvases and/or wood.

These Art Gift (Puzzle) Boxes are all unique and can be given as a special gift to yourself or to someone else.

I can also design a box for you according to your own wishes.

I continue to learn and have recently been exploring more and more about designing boxes combined with technology in the future.

Creating in the moment by improvising with movement, stillness, dance and clowning allows you to connect with yourself and others.

I do (Clown) Performance Art as Fixuna.

But also, in collaboration with Jos Rosier we have started an ongoing project in which we experiment with the theme "Save Bodies".

We get to know each other playfully without words, but through contact in the moment, which changes every time.

How does your own body feel?

How does the other person feel?

Is it safe?

Safe to make contact or not?

Are you allowed to come close or do you stay at a distance?

What are your boundaries?

Do you feel your own boundaries and those of others?

To trust?

My inspiration also comes from a dark dream-state...

I'm a sleepwalker and have a lot of nightmares.
That's why i am very interested in the psyche and fantasy dream-state and you will see that coming back.

I am a big fan of clowns, jesters or the Heyoka (the sacred clown).

Among the Lakota people, the Heyoka is a contrarian, jester, satirist or sacred clown.

The Heyoka speaks, moves and reacts in an opposite fashion to the people around them.

Only those having visions of the thunder beings of the west, can take on the ceremonial role of the Heyoka. Nothing was sacred to a Sacred Clown.

She was a social critic of the highest order. Her funny mimicry and joking exposed hypocrisy and arrogance. Her portrayals of ridiculous behavior showed the people in a very humorous way their own foolishness and blind-spots.

They are our mirrors and mirror us in reverse... 

"In the days before the invaders came.
Our clowns were with us all the time, as important to the village as the chief, or the shaman, or the dancers, or the poets."

I do Performance Art as Fixuna (clown). I also make Parody's and Sketches as Fixuna.

Almost everything i do as Fixuna is improvisation. I do have Theme's for the Performance Art.

And there is a message behind a lot of the video's i make as Fixuna. But it's like a puzzle and you will have to find the solution yourself.. :)
